The legend of CrossFit Kaiwai begins on the small Pacific island of Fiji where our founder and coach, Jaws was born.

Growing up in the Fiji islands, sports and fitness have always played a large part of Jaws Bulivou’s life. He began his athletic career in high school playing rugby, volleyball, practicing Judo, and running in track and field. Not only did he enjoy being active playing in these sports, he fell in love with weight training while preparing for each activity.

Jaws has trained and coached hundreds of fitness seekers in the Sacramento area for the past few years. He welcomes all levels fitness abilities from couch potatoes seeking to be more active to fitness junkies constantly striving and pushing themselves harder. Jaws expressed his pride in coaching when he stated, “I love training people to become the best they can be and to be able to do things they never thought they could do.”

Not only has Jaws trained new and experienced students but he has also assisted in coaching two-time Volleyball Gold Medalist, Gabe Gardner. Although he takes pride in coaching others, he still feels there is always something more he can learn and teach to others. He attends seminars and educates himself on how to get every client to reach their goals. Jaws welcomes everyone to take part and begin their fitness journey by taking that step into “The Tank” because they will be pleasantly surprised at what they can achieve.

Jaws’ mentality of bringing anyone and everyone together is clearly evident at the The Tank. The people you work out with become more than just friends, they become your family (or as we like to call it your fit fam!). The coaches come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences but with the same commitment to help everyone grow and become stronger.

At the The Tank, you’ll find a family that’s committed to becoming better (physically and mentally), that’s focused beyond the corners of the box and on engaging in the community, and that prioritizes fun in the form of frequent dance breaks and taco runs.
